Your Vote Can Count

Australia has just voted in a new Prime Minister, the US is gearing up to chose a new President in 2008, the UK has been dabbling with - but abandoned - the idea of elections that same year. And in France we have Municipal elections next March

The right to decide

Many expatriates living away from their home country still have a voice. To find out how to register and vote see the AngloINFO INFOrmation Pages on:

Or find out your rights from your French-based Consulate; contact details are in the Consulates & Embassies category of The AngloFILE.

In addition, you may qualify to vote in elections in your adopted home. Any EU citizen resident in France is entitled to vote in the next French Municipal elections provided they have been entered on the electoral roll of their town hall by the end of this month

  • Find out what this election means and how to register - it's easy - with the INFOrmation Page on Voting in France, which explains the steps you need to follow.

EU citizens in France may also vote in the European Parliamentary elections (next election, 2009) to elect their choice of French representatives in the European Parliament. The page Voting in France explains how to register for this too.
